As a collaborative association, IPA reaches out to all stakeholders in the industry to help advance best practices, methods, guidelines, maintain scientific rigor, and address challenges both on regulatory and quality front.
As the Global Voice of Probiotics and to further our mission and strategy of championing the development of probiotic standards; being the recognized probiotic authority for regulatory bodies around the world; increasing awareness and knowledge of probiotics to all stakeholders; and fostering networking opportunities.

GRMA / ANSI:
On the heels of the GRMA alliance with IPA to take our manufacturing guidelines and have them become an addendum to the ANSI 455-2 standards for manufacturing probiotic bulk into a finished product, we have now formed a liaison with ISO.
ISO/TC 34/SC 9 – Microbiology:
IPA has now established a liaison and is part of a working committee with ISO – International Organization for Standardization – which will take on work for different methodologies regarding probiotics.

Codex Alimentarius:
As you may know IPA proposed new work to harmonize probiotic regulations a few years ago which was taken on by Argentina and Malaysia. Now after an almost 3 year hiatus the Codex Committee NFSDU is returning with a physical meet in Dusseldorf, Germany – where the discussion of harmonizing probiotic regulations will be back on the agenda. In a world where regulatory divergence reigns supreme this is welcomed news to have this discussion resume.
