Probiotic supplements sales grew 48% in 2020 from the year before, topping the category at Amazon online.
Fantastic news — and a key takeaway from a free webinar “What’s Driving Probiotics Sales Growth on Amazon?” offered recently by International Probiotics Association (IPA) in partnership with ClearCut Analytics.
Dan Harari who leads business development for the eCommerce insights provider presented data on sales and consumer trends from recent analysis of the probiotic supplement market.
The pandemic was likely the biggest driver of a phenomenal year for probiotic supplements sales because a healthy gut is good for immunity, explained Harari.
Here are just a few of the valuable insights he offered, all specific to the probiotic supplements market:
- Bestsellers: The top ten brands spend aggressively on ads at Amazon. Hopeful competitors are advised to do the same.
- Formats: While capsules are the most popular format, gummies are the fastest growing delivery method.
- Count size: 30 count bottles are dominant with a 40% market share.
- Pricing: Probiotics have gone down slightly in price as many new products come onboard.
Many more valuable data points were shared with attendees. If you missed it, the webinar is available on-demand here and through the IPA website.
IPA’s Executive Director George Paraskevakos introduced the session and moderated the Q&A with his usual graciousness.
Thank you to Dan Harari of ClearCut Analytics for sharing his time and expertise and to IPA’s George Paraskevakos and ViVan Phan for organizing this interesting event.
